The short version: we collect as little as we can. If you join our email list, we ask for your first name and email address, use them only to send what you asked for, and never sell them. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details at any time.
Who we are
This website, plainspokentech.com, is run by Plainspoken Tech Pty Ltd (ACN 702 652 186), a company registered in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. We publish the Plainspoken Tech for Seniors books. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Plainspoken Tech Pty Ltd. For the purposes of the UK and EU GDPR, we are the controller of your personal data.

What we collect and why

We don’t ask for your home address, phone number, date of birth or payment details. We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising profiles. We don’t make decisions about you by automated means.
Buying our books
Our books are sold by Amazon, not by us. When you follow a link to Amazon, Amazon’s own privacy notice and cookies apply. Amazon doesn’t give us your name or address when you buy a book; we only see total sales figures.
Who helps us, and where your information goes
We use a small number of trusted service providers. They process information only on our instructions and must keep it safe.

Because some providers are overseas, your information may be stored or processed outside the country you live in, including in the United States and the European Union. We choose providers with strong security and, where the law requires it, use contract terms such as standard contractual clauses to protect your information.
We only share personal information with anyone else if the law requires it, or to protect people from fraud or harm.
How long we keep it
- Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After you unsubscribe, we keep only a note of your email address marked as unsubscribed, so we never email you again by mistake.
- Emails you send us: for up to two years, unless we need them longer for a legal reason.
- Website security logs: kept by Cloudflare for a short time, in line with Cloudflare’s own policies.
Keeping it safe
The website only works over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Our accounts are protected by strong passwords and two-step verification, and only people who need access have it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorized access.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- stop our emails at any time by clicking “Unsubscribe” at the bottom of any email;
- ask what we hold about you and get a copy;
- ask us to correct anything that’s wrong;
- ask us to delete your details;
- change your cookie choice using the “Cookie settings” button at the bottom of every page.
If you’re in the UK or the EU, you also have the right to object to how we use your information, to restrict it, to have it moved to another service (portability), and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting anything we did before.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We’ll reply within 30 days and won’t charge you. We may need to check it’s really you before we act.
Australia
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as a matter of good practice. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first. If you’re still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
United States
We don’t sell or share personal information as those terms are used in US state privacy laws, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising. Because we don’t track visitors across other websites, we don’t change how the site works in response to “Do Not Track” signals; there’s no cross-site tracking to switch off.
United Kingdom and European Union
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Canada
You can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Children
Our website and books are written for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you think a child has given us their details, email us and we’ll delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant and you’re on our email list, we’ll tell you by email.
